discover yoga:
6 week course
About the course
Discover Yoga is a six-week adventure through some of the many different ways yoga can be practised.
Each week we’ll explore a completely different style: from slow, traditional Hatha and yoga flows to Yin, Ashtanga, Restorative and Yoga Nidra.
We’ll practise a class together, but we’ll also spend time understanding where these different approaches come from and what makes them unique.
Along the way we’ll dip into breathwork, meditation and yoga philosophy too, because yoga is so much more than just the poses.
Who is this course for: You don’t need to be flexible, know any Sanskrit or have done yoga before.
Equally, you don’t need to be a complete beginner. This course is for anyone who wants to understand yoga a little better, try something new or discover the practice that feels like theirs.
Course outline
Week 1: Hatha/Foundations – Start with a slower, more traditional yoga practice and get to know some of the foundations of yoga.
Week 2: Vinyasa/Yoga Flow – Explore a more dynamic style of yoga as we begin linking postures together through movement and breath.
Week 3: Yin – Slowing everything right down, Yin is a mostly floor-based practice where poses are held for longer, giving us time to explore stillness.
Week 4: Ashtanga – Experience a taste of Ashtanga Yoga, a structured practice built around a set sequence of postures.
Week 5: Restorative – Enjoy a nervous-system based practice using props to completely support the body. Guest session.
Week 6: Pranayama & Yoga Nidra - beyond asana – Our final week takes us beyond physical yoga. We’ll explore pranayama (yogic breathing practices), meditation and Yoga Nidra.

I’m Charlotte, founder of Pendle Wellbeing Hub and Aether Yoga.
While I have quite a traditional background having taken my Yoga Teacher Training in Nepal, one of the things I love most about yoga is just how much there is to discover. Yoga can be strong and sweaty, quiet and still, deeply traditional, playful, meditative - sometimes it involves not moving at all.
I created Discover Yoga because I think it can be confusing to know what’s what. There are so many styles, names and approaches, and it can be difficult to know where you fit into all of it.
Over the six weeks I’ll introduce you to some of the practices I love, share a little of the history and philosophy behind them, and give you plenty of space to work out what yoga looks like for you 🧡
FAQs
-
Not at all. The course has been designed so complete beginners can join us, but you absolutely don’t need to be new to yoga. It’s also perfect if you’ve done a little yoga already and would like to understand and explore it more deeply.
-
Absolutely not. Flexibility is not a prerequisite for yoga - and there is no level of flexibility you need to reach to be ‘good’ at it.
-
Ideally, yes, as the course has been designed as a six-week journey and your place covers the full course. If you have to miss a week though, it won't stop you enjoying the rest of the course. You can always come along to the week you missed on the next course.
-
We keep numbers small (max. 12 people) to ensure a welcoming, supportive atmosphere and time for personal guidance.
-
We have mats and all the props you'll need at the studio, so just wear something comfortable that you can move in. You're welcome to bring your own mat if you prefer.
-
Yes. We won't be spending six weeks teaching basic poses. The course is about experiencing different approaches to yoga and understanding more about the wider practice, so there's plenty to explore even if you've been to classes before.
